Choosing an ash catcher is easy. All you need to do is to remember the acronym GAS which stands for gender, angle, and size.
- Gender – There are two genders in ash catchers: male and female. Most of the time, bongs and dab rigs have female joints and their attachments are male. There are times which in joints would have the same genders which would not make them work because they will not connect with each other. However, this could be resolved through joint adaptors which flip the joint genders in an instant.
- Angle – Two angles could be observed in bongs and rigs. It’s standard to have 90 degrees and 45 degrees. Knowing your bong or dab rig’s angle gives you an advantage as it would work well with what you have. Buying an attachment at the wrong angle makes it useless as it will not be able to do its job.
- Size – Joints are often sized at 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm. All you need to do is to take note of the size needed by your bong or dab rig and choose the right size for it. But if all else fails, a joint converter would save you from your mistake.
Aside from these three, it also pays to consider that you take into consideration the weight of the attachment. Of course, if the attachment is heavier than the main unit, it would topple over and might cause serious damage.
