Winterization [Winterization]

Definition:

Winterization is a known refinement process that aims to remove certain compounds — such as fats, lipids, waxes — from cannabis extracts. The winterization of oil purifies crude extracts, increasing the quality and flavor of the produced oil.

Below are the significant steps that comprise Cannabis winterization:

  1. Mixing the cannabis extract with ethanol
  2. Freezing the solution that makes the undesirable compounds solid
  3. Passing the solution through a filter
  4. Removing the ethanol from the solution.
