Strain[streɪn]

Definition:

In the Cannabis industry, strain describes a variant of Cannabis cultivars. The term may also apply to descendants of modified marijuana plants.

There are currently 779 known cannabis strains that fit into one of three generally accepted categories: indica, sativa, or hybrids. In general, sativa marijuana strains have an elevating mental effect when smoked or consumed, whilst indica strains are more calming, and hybrid strains combine the best of both groups.
