Plant part

Stamen[ˈsteɪmɛn]

Definition:

In gardening, stamen refers to the male reproductive organ of plants. Upon reaching maturity, stamen releases pollens, carrying the male’s genome into the air to pollinate female plants that lead to fertilization.

When cannabis plants are young, identifying stamen can help establish whether they are male or female. Males are usually segregated or removed to avoid pollinating female plants unless used for breeding plants or creating new strains.
