Cannabis species
Indica[Indica]
Definition:
Among cannabis users, Indica applies to a species of the Cannabis plant that provides sedating and relaxing effects. Because of this understanding, indica is used during nighttime since it helps a person sleep.
Compared with Cannabis sativa, indica has the following morphological characteristics:
- Short in height
- Thick stems
- Produce broad and deep green leaves
In the cannabis world, indica plants are regarded to have sedative effects that produce a strong body high, while sativa strains are thought to be more uplifting and create a more vigorous head high.
But according to Dr. Ethan Russo, psychopharmacology researcher, the sativa-indica terminology needs to be revisited. For him, the concentration of the terpene myrcene, rather than the cannabinoid content or the structure of the plant, is the reason most indica strains are associated with feelings of sleepiness.
