Cotyledon[kɒtɪˈliːdən]

Definition:

Seed leaves, also known as cotyledon leaves, are usually seen in pairs. When a marijuana seedling begins to sprout, the first leaves that appear are cotyledons. These leaves are shed when the cannabis plant matures and grows, allowing the other components of the plant to continue developing and growing. Cotyledons are essential in the early phases of plant development.
